Financial Inclusion in Middle East and Africa: Mastercard extends partnership with Uber

Mastercard on Tuesday announced that they are extending their partnership with Uber to boost payment digitization and advance financial inclusion across the Middle East and Africa. The announcement on the new partnership with Uber was revealed via their Twitter account.

The new partnership between Uber and Mastercard builds on an already existing relationship between the two organization. Last year Mastercard collaborated with Uber in the providing 120,000 free trips and meals to communities across the Middle East and Africa.

The newly extended partnership will enable Uber to accelerate digitalization across their business operations in the region, utilizing Mastercard’s single infrastructure to cater for all types of payments needs across Uber Rides, Uber Eats, Uber Pass, and Uber for Business.

It is expected that the partnership between both organizations will encourage cashless payments, boost digital payment acceptance, and reward loyalty with the support for Uber's continued social impact collaboration still intact.

Mastercard believes that collaborations such as this will drive financial inclusions and achieve their 2025 vision, which is to bring a total of 1 billion people, 50 million micro and small businesses, and 25 million women entrepreneurs into the digital economy 2025.
