Ecobank Ghana PLC has invested GH¢2.2 million to set up digital learning centers in four schools in Ghana. In partnership with Ghana Code Club, the initiative lays down fully equipped computer laboratories offering specialized training in web development, animation, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
Two schools, South Labone Girls Technical Institute in Accra and Potters Village Orphanage in Dodowa, have already received their facilities.
Also, Construction is underway for similar centers at Bishop Assuah Catholic Basic School in Takoradi and 4 Garrison Educational Centre in Kumasi.
The six-month training program blends digital skills development with traditional literacy while offering supplementary readers authored locally for upper primary and junior high school students. It also coincides with the African Union's declaration of 2024 as the year of education and comes in the second year of the "Transforming Africa Through Education" campaign Ecobank has launched to run over three years.
Ghana Code Club's CEO, Ernestina Appiah, will oversee the technical aspects of the program, focusing on developing students' proficiency in coding, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
